Biography

Born in 1988, Hugo Royer has been, in his early ages, introduced to Art; his mother, Céline, was a graphist and an Art teacher. He grew up in his quiet french-Canadian town, Thetford Mines, in a normal 3-children family with his younger brother and sister Pascal and Sophie.

Hugo always loved to shoot photos. He always wanted to use his parents' Polaroid camera. When digital cameras were launched for public usage, he had the chance to get one from his parents. Then, he got hooked by photography in 2005, on a trip to New York City; especially with long exposure shots on Manhattan Bridge. In 2006, he finally got a digital single-lens reflex and started flicking on sports and action.

This "Québécois" who will turn 20 this year currently studies English as a Second Language Teaching in University Laval. He still continues to do action and sports photography in the weekends or when he is not in school. Miles is not an obstacle for Hugo and his thirst of good music and photography. During the summer of 2007, he traveled over 1000 kilometers for photographic purposes and spent around 36 hours in front of a stage for shows... in 3 months: June, July and August!

He regularly contributes to the local paper with hockey snaps and recently had pictures of his displayed on the cover page of the book "Une Mine De Bons Joueurs", a book relating the history of hockey in his hometown.

The winter season of 2007-08 should be a big game for him as he will have, for the second year, the responsibility of shooting the Thetford Mines Isothermic (formerly known as Thetford Mines Prolab) hockey games. Also, he is actually working on a video project with skier and snowboarder friends of his. This movie should be available at the end of winter 2008.

Until then, as he would say, "Peace, love and Rock N Roll!"
